Influence of Heat Treatment on Microhardness and Surface Roughness of Electroless Ni-YSZ Composite Coating

The application of heat treatment was introduced in Ni-YSZ composite coating as the incorporation ceramic YSZ electroless nickel deposition is new and worth investigating. In this paper, influence by varying heating temperature time on investigated. deposited onto a high-speed steel substrate via co-deposition. powder mixed sizes micro- nano-sized ratio 1:1 incorporated deposits. composites heated up to 400oC for maximum 2 hours. microhardness measurements were carried out using Vickers tester (Shimadzu) according ISO 6507-4. surface roughness measured Mitutoyo SJ-301. characterisation analysed Cambridge Stereoscan 90 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) coupled with Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX). crystallographic structure materials diffraction (XRD) Bruker D8 Advance instrument. both increase time. directly proportional these observations are supported XRD analysis. observation explained SEM micrographs.
